Bloody Nipples

One thing I've found new this season is how much a bleed during my running.

If I go out for anything more than 20k, in something around 30C, I will end up bleeding right through my top. I've tried band aids, body glide, deodorant, even expensive nipple guards, but I continue to bleed though.

I, and I wonder how many other men, have taken to wearing my dark red top when I go on anything longer than a half marathon distance. Even with the lesser runs, I have to wonder about the temp, because I am sweating heavy and that is making the tops I wear almost like brillo pads on my nipples. Even those days where I don't bleed through, I find I am rubbed raw as I undress for a shower.

The whole situation is a pain in the ass. When I should be worrying about my mileage and getting the best performance out of my day, I instead worry about how much I'm bleeding. And it's a bit weird to be running through the city with two red dots on your chest. The ridicule aside, it is REALLY painful.

I will endeavor to find a viable solution to it. Though at present, it really is down to planning. A) When do I run to avoid the worst heat and sweating and B) what do I wear in case I do bleed and don't want to make a spectacle of myself.

A last note, my gf of course has nothing to worry in this regard, and playfully consoles me afterward. It is the only time I am jealous of her, and her sports bra and painless sweaty runs.

I am happy to bleed and suffer, and I have repeatedly, for my running and my way of life. But sometimes I wish I didn't have to.
