First year of running
You will see the greatest improvement in your running and yourself in the first year.
Your heart will become stronger and pump more blood per beat, thus your resting heart rate will be lower. Your muscles tendons and joints will become stronger and able to better withstand the impact of your runs. You will be able to run further and faster and see more changes in yourself.
Your runs will get easier. You will find yourself saying things you've never said before..." I am only running THREE miles today" and such. You will talk non stop about the littlest arcane facts of your run and running. Your friends will turn away and your loved ones' eyes will glaze over.
But you need to be careful.
Your aerobic system will improve faster than your muscular system. You will feel like you can run further and further than you should because you feel so strong. So going slow and taking short distances even when your feel like you can go for it.
Enjoy your first year. Reveal in it. But beware of the danger of forgetting it IS your first year.
