Early To Bed, Early To Rise!
Get at least 7-8 hours of sleep and you will notice that getting out of bed will not seem like such a herculean task. Staying up late to watch your favorite show or movie will leave you feeling grumpy, drowsy and tired in the morning, and will take away from the experience of what could otherwise have a been a good morning running session.
Sleep In Your Running Clothes!
This may seem like a queer suggestion, but for many people a large part of the challenge of going for a morning run is getting out of bed and changing into suitable clothes. This seemingly strange tip actually works!
Lay Them Out!
If the sleeping in your running clothes does not seem like such an appealing idea, just lay your morning running clothes out the night before. This way, when you wake up, you won’t be put off by the thought of having to fish for appropriate clothes to wear.
The Snooze Button Is Off Limits!
After you put the alarm on, place it in a location that is out of your arm’s reach. When the alarm goes off in the morning, you may be tempted to hit the snooze button, but with the alarm clock placed far away from you, you will have no choice but to get out of bed!
Plan It Out!
Make a training schedule and chalk out your daily goals. With these specific targets in mind, you will feel compelled to stick to your morning running schedule to prevent the whole plan from getting derailed. On the night before the run, make it a point to remind yourself of the goals to be accomplished the next day. Specify the time duration, distance to be covered and location. This will motivate you further and prevent you from skipping the morning run.
Find A Running Buddy!
Having a friend to run with in the morning can make a world of a difference. A morning running buddy can be an added source of motivation to stick to your schedule, and he/she can also make you look forward to the morning run! You could also form a morning running group.
Keep It Light!
Eating a heavy breakfast before your morning run is not a good idea, and running in the morning on an empty stomach is not advisable either! Eat fruits or a small energy bar before the morning run to keep you going.
