Regular physical activity adds about four years to life expectancy, and endurance exercise during leisure time seems to be better at extending life than physical activity done as work, according to a new research review published in the Journal of Aging Research.
More good news for runners comes from the finding that endurance exercise is better than other forms at increasing life expectancy. All of the studies the researchers looked at found a bigger benefit for endurance athletes than others, with the increase in life expectancy ranging from 2.8 to 8 years.
