New Card appointment

So today I went out to Aluche for my appoint to have my new NIE card made. My lawyer didn't turn up and it seems she never was supposed to. So last week's surprise on that note was too good to be true.

I quickly hustled up to the office and passed through the metal detector and found that there was no line. I guess that at 9ish there's twice as many clerks as after 10am.

Again, you need a receipt from the bank that you paid the modelo 790's 18€, your appointment document (which explains all the things you need this morning), EX-03 document which you got at the oficina de extranjeros that authorizes your new work visa and...

Here is new info...

You need a NEW set of passport size photos. I discovered this problem when I got a great deal on photos. I got 12 for the price of 3 because I knew I was going to need more in the future. The clerk told me you can use the same photos.Thank god, I had some passport photos from when I first left the USA. I had something like 8 photos made over 6 years ago. I pulled them out of my bag and handed them over. If I hadn't had them, I would have had to get up go outside loss my spot in line and find a place of have photos made. There is a photo booth in the courtyard but you still lose your place in line. And by this time, the line is getting LONG!

The clerk takes the new photos staples one to my file, and hands the other two back for use, and sends me to the back of the room. There they fingerprint your index finger and take a signature and then tell you to return in 40 days for your new card. They give you a slender piece of paper from the ministry of the interior which is your receipt. DO NOT LOSE IT! Also the receipt tells you, you cannot pick up your card without presenting your passport.

The only problem is 40 WORK days or 40 CALENDAR days???

Sigh... It is always always something.
