Why long distance running? Part 3
Distance running appeals to me because it is not subjective. Perfection is objective and defined by logic. It's ib the numbers. A devil to love in the details. Numbers of distance, of time, etc. They create a strict level of excellence that anyone who chooses can easily recognize and aspire to. There are rules and the number that you achieve is never open to debate. Be it the time taken to run, place in a race, or a record set. It is absolute in your universe. (Though it might not be in another persons). It is a number that is yours. It cannot be taken away or changed or claimed. Who you are means nothing, it is your performance that is everything.
