midmorning coffee...

I am sitting her finishing up my quiz...

trying to pick songs i think evryone would know but not so easy that it's a cake walk.

a few things about madrid:

1. when the sidewalks are wet, which is often as they clean them with water jets, they become very slippery and sometimes dangerous.

2. there are a lot LOT of old people in madrid

3. sometimes an old madrileno (?) will just stop in his or her tracks and turn around to see what's behind. it's awful when you're behind them and nearly knock them over. paddy and i think it's there way of checking for Death creeping up...

4. the morning is frigid this time of year but the afternoons heat up to sweating degrees and then evening drops back to frigid, so layering is essential and dressing is still difficult.

5. spanish men are some of the best dressed in the world.

6. spanish women are stunningly gorgeous straight into their 50s.

7. scarves are must for living here. great to keep warm for the short hop from home to metro and then packed away for the afternoon and brought out for the evening. it can replace a jacket.

8. the elderly will walk slow and take on a whole sidewalk, and do it oblivious of your need to get around and to work.
